Principals' Leadership Academy for New Principals

The Principals' Leadership Academy (PLA) consists of two main components: one for new principals and one for experienced principals. The academy supports continuing professional development for school leaders with the goal of increasing student achievement. PLA has reached more than 2,600 education leaders since 1991.

The Catalog of Guidelines for Academy Delivery provides additional details about PLA and the selection of professional development sessions.

The Principals' Leadership Academy for New Principals focuses on instructional leadership. Following Effective Schools' research, all new principals receive a total of six days of intensive, professional development that culminates in the development and implementation of an action plan for their schools. School law, financial management, leading change, and a 360° Leadership Inventory are also components of the program.
