Coaching for School Improvement is a leadership module offered by the West Virginia Center for Professional Development (WVCPD) in partnership with the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB).  It guides the professional development of educational leaders to improve school and classroom practices and advance student achievement. This session will only be offered in partnership with a school, county, or region to provide opportunities for local learning with statewide consistency. Please contact your county professional development coordinator to inquire about scheduling a session in your area.

The two-day module includes:

  • Integrates real-world problems to build knowledge and skills in instructional leadership
  • Incorporates adult learning strategies with national standards for quality professional development
  • Builds in coaches the attitudes, beliefs and behaviors that facilitate learning

Participants will leave the session with the skills to establish clear, trusting and productive relationships with educators in which the coach is a facilitator of change who can help educators:

  • Diagnose problems
  • Identify opportunities
  • Choose appropriate strategies
  • Implement strategies
  • Monitor school improvement

Suggested Audience: This module is designed for teacher leaders, mentors, PLC leaders, academic coaches, instructional strategists or administrators on any level.
