Welcome to the first issue of the West Virginia Online Action Research Journal. The purpose of the journal is to share the results of high quality action research taking place in West Virginia schools. This first issue is only the beginning of the journey in sharing the good work of West Virginia educators. This issue includes two major articles and brief summaries of action research conducted by West Virginia administrators.
The two major articles in this issue were reviewed and selected by a panel of experts. The brief summaries were compiled from the work of the action research scholars. These action research scholars participated in the 2006-2007 Principals’ Leadership Academy for New Principals conducted by the West Virginia Center for Professional Development. The scholars were new principals selected by a panel of experts for the year-long action research completed with teams of teachers from their schools.
As we prepare to make this a yearly journal, we are opening the submission process to all West Virginia educators. The submission guidelines, review documents, and deadlines for articles in next year’s journal are located within the submission tab. We would like to express our gratitude for the work of Dr. Lisa A. Heaton of Marshall University for compiling the documents used as the model for article submission and review.
