Session: AP Summer Institute - Physics CANCELLED
Description: The Physics session is scheduled for June 22-26, 2009, at Saint Albans High School, Saint Albans, WV. The AP Summer Institute provides information, tools, and strategies you need to build successful Advanced Placement Programs in your school. Through the institute, you will strengthen your own professional skills and learn techniques to help students prepare for and connect with college. Instructor: Connie Wells, AP Physics teacher, Pembroke Hill School, Kansas City, MO Out-of-state teachers must download a registration form from the AP Program page of this website.
Cost: $104 registration fee that covers the cost of your College Board booklet, breakfast, lunch, and lodging (if needed). Participants must bring the following items to the institute: 1-paper and three-ring binder (with section for labs or separate lab journal) 2-scientific calculator(TI-84 or TI-83 Plus) This is optional. 3-lab notebook (or section of your three-ring binder if preferred) 4-demonstration or "best practice" idea to share (optional) 5-tools (wire cutters, scissors, screwdrivers, needle-nose pliers (optional) 6-Enough information to prepare a syllabus/timeline for your course or edit an existing one 7-laptop (optional) Please download the instructor's welcome letter, daily agenda, syllabus, and confirmation during the registration process.

Location/Lodging Saint Albans High School 2100 Kanawha Terrace Saint Albans, WV 25177 (Saint Albans is near Charleston, WV.) Single accommodation lodging is provided for those who live at least 60 miles or 1 hour away from the institute site. Requirements:
Audience: Middle or high school AP or honors teachers OR teachers who would like to learn how to introduce more rigorous strategies into their classrooms
